Friday October 12th is going to be an extremely fun and unique night of music as the Linsmore Tavern is bringing in 2 very high energy bands who are ready to tear down the roof! The Hard Toms will be returning to the Linsmore after many requests and will be performing their very unique tribute to Sex Symbol Tom Jones but with a punk rock sound! Also performing for the very first time at the Linsmore Tavern, the original Surf Punk Instrumentalists, Mark Malibu & the Wasagas! We have heard tremendous things about this band and we can't wait for them to bring their show to the Linsmore! This will be a fun night that you will absolutely would love to be apart of! Top notch musicians, putting on a top notch show!
Opening the evening will be The Hard Toms who will be playing a high energy, punked up set-list of Welsh singer and legend Tom Jones! They have played on some amazing bills in the past and every time they perform they have blown everyone in attendance away. This band is really a MUST-SEE live show! Tom Jones became one of the most popular vocalists to emerge from the mid-1960s. Since then, he has sung many forms of popular music – pop, rock, R&B, show tunes, country, dance, soul music and gospel – and sold over 100 million records. This is kind of ironic, as Tom Jones has dabbled into almost every style of music, except for punk rock, who The Hard Toms will absolutely entertain you with their cool variations of Tom Jones's classics! Tom Jones has had thirty-six Top 40 hits in the United Kingdom and nineteen in the United States; some of his notable songs include "It's Not Unusual", "What's New Pussycat", "Delilah", "Green, Green Grass of Home", "She's a Lady", "Kiss", and "Sex Bomb". The band features: Chris LaBonte (guitar), Steve Whitehouse (bass and lead vocals), Chris Parkins (drums) and Raphaël Désilets (trumpet)!
The headliners, Mark Malibu & the Wasagas are Canada's original Surf Punk Instrumentalists. They existed from 1979-1982. They were only 16 years old when this band formed. and played with many new-wave and punk bands confusing audiences everywhere. It was not easy playing surf instrumental music when clubs wanted Black Sabbath, Black Flag or .... any other band wearing black clothes with vocals. They did manage to align with some other young bands around town and play the usual Toronto dives like the Turning Point, Larry's Hideaway, Cabana Room to name a few. They also managed to record 7 original songs. They have recently reunited in 2014 for several shows with all original members. That’s 32 years later! The future promises to be interesting for the Wasagas with lots of new music and shows being offered. Surfs Up again!
This amazing and unique evening of two incredible bands is definitely going to be a hot seller! Tickets are only $5 in advance, $10 at the door! You can buy tickets at the bar or at www.linsmoretavern.com
