Goldenballs & Mighty Big Word are Back!!!

This Thursday night the Linsmore Tavern is excited to bring in two incredible indie, rock acts that are ready to tear down the house this Thursday night!  The Mighty Big Word is opening the show at 9pm, followed by the returning Goldenballs! These 2 bands played a bill back in December and absolutely killed it!  Goldenballs will headline this night and will hit the stage around 10:30pm!

Formed in 2008, Mighty Big Word represents the latest in a long line of musical undertakings over the 25 year songwriting partnership of Jeremy Fisher and Todd Tolls. Hailing originally from Kingston, ON, the pair began to make a name for themselves as buskers before finally forming their first group Uncle Remus in 1993. After six years of near-constant gigging and two successful indie releases, "Big Jon" and "Buffalo Grass", the group split and the new millennium found Todd and Jeremy settled in their adopted home of Toronto, ON. The ensuing years saw the beginnings of many short-lived bands and musical projects with a revolving door cast of local luminaries, before finally coalescing around the core that is Mighty Big Word. With a stable lineup comprising vocalist/rhythm guitarist Jeremy Fisher, vocalist/Bassist Todd Tolls, drummer Bonz and lead guitarist Ian Woodward, Mighty Big Word began their musical oeuvre with the EP "The Whole World's Asleep" in 2010; they are currently working on a follow-up full length album for early 2013.

Based in Toronto, Goldenballs plays rock n roll.  The Band features members: Duncan McRae - Guitar / vocals, Scott Megginson - Guitar, Paul Mitchell - Bass, Matt Webster - Drums

There is no cover and the show starts at 9pm.

Blues Sunday Featuring The Charlie Jacobson Band!

Sunday February 28th at 6pm for the Linsmore Tavern's (1298 Danforth Ave) Blues Sunday, we are bringing in the super-talented Charlie Jacobson Band! Only the best in blues music is what Blues Sunday is all about and the Charlie Jacobson Band definitely fits the criteria!

Charlie Jacobson is a passionate 24 year old blues/rock artist with no fixed address. Over the last few years Charlie has played hundreds of shows across the Canadian prairies and back and forth over the Rockies. With his guitar and suitcase drums always packed in the car, his nomadic lifestyle takes him to shows ranging from music festivals, house concerts, large blues clubs to community halls and theatres. You might see him fronting the four-piece Charlie Jacobson Band or recreating that full sound on his own, playing his suitcase drums with his heels, ripping on the guitar, singing and dancing.

As well as his personal projects, Charlie has been cutting his teeth as the guitarist for some of Canada’s most well respected blues acts including Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne, Russell Jackson and Donald Ray Johnson. This has included performances at the Calgary International Blues Festival in 2013 and 2014, and prominent blues clubs around Alberta. Jackson and Johnson form the rhythm section on the new Charlie Jacobson Band recording, Alberta Flood.

In addition to being an accomplished guitarist and songwriter, Charlie is a true showman. If there is a table to dance on, a banister to slide off or a chandelier to swing from, you’ll find him working it into his passionate, high-energy act.

The Charlie Jacobson Band is one of Canada's up and coming premier acts, so make sure you come out to see him! If you are a fan of really good Blues, the Linsmore Tavern every sunday at 6pm is the place to be! No Cover!

The Weber Brothers Live!!!

Friday February 26th, the Linsmore Tavern is so excited to welcome one of Canada's best original Rock 'N' Roll bands, The Weber Brothers!  If you are looking for a great night of original music and looking for one of the next big bands, look no further then the Weber Brothers!

There are bands for which rock and roll is a lifestyle, and then there are bands for which it is life.

To many, The Weber Brothers are the baddest band in the land.To many others, their story sits like an ancient volume in an old bookstore, dust covered, tucked away behind hundreds of newer, shinier books. Untouched. Waiting to be discovered. Regardless of what side you’re on, there’s an undeniable truth. In the rough and tumble world of rock and roll, The Weber Brothers have been around the block.

Ryan and Sam Weber left their Baltimore, MD home one night as teenagers, with the aim of meeting their idol, rockabilly legend Ronnie Hawkins, and ten hours later showed up at his doorstep. “The Hawk”, the elder statesman of rock whose former protégés (Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko, Levon Helm, et al.) went on to reshape music history as “The Band”, was duly impressed by the pair’s immense raw talent, and promptly invited them to audition for his storied backing band, The Hawks. Mere months later, after surviving the intense musical apprenticeship of his fabled “Rock ‘n’ Roll Bootcamp,” they were in: full-blooded Hawks. By the ages of 18 and 21 they had already performed alongside Kris Kristofferson, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson, Jeff Healey and David Wilcox to name a few.

“If I had The Weber Brothers with me in 1952, Elvis would’ve been my roadie.” –Ronnie Hawkins

Tickets are $5 in advance, $10 at the door! You can buy tickets at the Linsmore Tavern or right here: BUY TICKETS!!
