Penny Benjamin wsg/ the Valhounds Live at the Linsmore!

Friday January 5th, the Linsmore Tavern is very excited to welcome 2 top notch Indie Bands that will definitely blow you away! Penny Benjamin who last played the Linsmore way back in 2015 are back and ready to rock the house and will be bringing with them, The Valhounds who will be opening the show! Fans of music, you gotta see these 2 incredible, young, hungry, Indie Bands!

Penny Benjamin features Mike Wilkins (guitar) and Jason Brander (bass) who have played in a number of bands growing up together in Sarnia, ON and just happened to be in the same place at the same time. During his brief time in Toronto, Mike had met Eric Grant (vocals, guitar) and Andrew Burns (keyboards, vocals), two incredibly talented musicians with local roots. When Matt Harper (drums), moved to Toronto from Prince Edward Island in 2015, it proved to be the finishing touch the band needed.

The music is a combination of elements of classic rock, alternative, indie and progressive rock. Over the past five years, the band released a self-titled EP in 2014 and has been playing shows throughout Ontario. The band has drawn capacity crowds at the El Mocambo, Cherry Cola's, Linsmore Tavern, and the Garrison and have shared the same stage as many of their musical heroes at Lee's Palace.

The story The Valhounds is a long and twisted tale, after years of friendship between most of the guys, it took a chance meeting at a local watering hole to find the final piece. A talented lyricist and singer. After become fast friends over cheap beer and singalongs to the jukebox, a casual jam was setup to play some cover songs and drink some more beer together. A year and a half later and armed with a slew of original material the band has played sold out rooms, totally empty rooms, tackled two recording sessions and enough drummer changes to rival Spinal Tap. But that’s all part of their rock and roll journey.

Extremes. Full, empty, in or out. And this is a group of seasoned musicians that are all in and on a mission to bring fun, danger and some style back to rock and roll. The man who needs no introduction, Stacy Stray, who has been thrown out of more bars than you’ve stepped foot in throws down heavy riffs and feedback laden solos over thundering grooves from the most sought after rhythm section in town featuring Dave Vasey, Andrew Stewart and Mike Wilkins (bass, drums, guitar, respectively). Lead singer, and sex symbol of the decade Joseph Langton brings all the attitude and snarl needed to front these raucous hounds, but with swagger, a smirk and enough pop sensibilities to grab any music fans ear.

The show starts at 9:30pm, there's a $5 cover charge!

Freeman Dre And The Kitchen Party Live at the Linsmore Tavern!

Saturday January 6th 2018 and the very first Saturday of the year and the Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth Ave) can't think of a better band to kick off our Saturday Night's in 2018, then one of Canada's best up and coming bands, Freeman Dre And The Kitchen Party! This Original-Romantic-Offkilter-CityFolk-Rock’n’roll-Songs from a kitchen in Parkdale, is gaining recognition as one of the best live bands in the country and their original music makes is turning a lot of heads! Music fans, don't miss this show as Freeman Dre And The Kitchen Party does not play many shows east of Yonge Street, so this is going to be really cool to introduce them to the east side of Toronto! With lyrical dexterity that spurs fitting (albeit tired) comparison to the holy triumvirate: Dylan, Waits, and Cohen, Freeman Dre is modern street-wise troubadour. This is an exciting night that we know all of our hardcore music fans will enjoy and appreciate! The show starts at 9:30pm, there will be a $5 cover charge!
