On Friday June 24th, the Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth) has a very special band returning who all music fans and blues fans need to see, as The Gary Cain Band is back for a special Friday night show in Toronto! Coming back from Austin Texas, this will be The Gary Cain Band's only Toronto show, so do not miss it! The Gary Cain Band held down a monthly Sunday residency at the Linsmore throughout 2017 and parts of 2018 and captivated many people with their incredible blues music! Gary Cain has gained a ton of notoriety as one of the top blues musicians and guitar virtuoso's not only in Canada but around the world! He is considered, the #4 independent blues guitarist in the world (2016 Six String Theory) and was also Semi-Finalists in The Blues Foundation’s 2018 International Blues Challenge, held in Memphis. He  moved to Austin, Texas and has been touring all over melting faces with his tremendous guitar playing! Gary has a very hectic schedule over the summer touring everywhere, so don't miss out on seeing this talent in Toronto. Gary is only back for a short period of time, so Toronto music fans, we are really in for a big treat with Gary returning to play the Linsmore! Music fans you need to see this band live and at the Linsmore because this opportunity will not be presented very often in the future. The show starts at 9:30pm, tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the door so do not miss this show!
Gary Cain is Canada's #1 Independent Blues Artist! Some of the bands that has influenced Gary Cain's Blues music, include Eric Gales, Philip Sayce, Stevie Ray Vaughan, AC/DC, Danny Gatton, ZZ Top, Chris Duarte, Scott Henderson, Doyle Bramhall II, Greg Koch, Albert King, Albert Collins, and Jimi Hendrix! In 2019 Gary opened a show for George Thorogood and The Destroyers at Massey Hall in front of 3000 people and absolutely stole the show! He is gaining a ton of worldwide recognition and someone you need to see live!
Gary Cain is one of the most exciting guitar-slingers on the blues scene today. As a child he spent entire days in his parents’ basement learning AC/DC songs note-for-note on a cheap classical guitar. “Eventually I think they thought ‘It’s time to get him into lessons.’ I still laugh when I think back to me as a 12-year old kid trying to explain to my Mom the intricacies of Angus Young’s solo on the live version of Whole Lotta Rosie.”
After studying guitar at Humber College’s world-renowned music program, he played in several bands, eventually landing a gig in Dubai in the house band for The Lodge, one of Dubai’s largest nightclubs. The four-sets-a-night, six-nights-a-week pace eventually led to a vocal injury that sidelined him. “I wasn’t sure what to do, no seemed to be able to tell me what the problem was. When I finally got into see a specialist that could tell me, it was a relief to know it was something I could come back from.” Now, back in action with a style he calls Twang-a-Delic Blues-o-Phunk, he’s backed by a rhythm section featuring two incredibly well-rounded, experienced, and talented musicians. “It’s great to be able to play with guys that can draw from so many styles. It gives us a lot of freedom to stretch out of the typical blues box and into a lot of cool different places.”
In 2016 Gary placed 4th in the world in the blues category of Grammy Winner Lee Ritneour’s Six String Theory guitar competition, judged by such greats as Joe Bonamassa, Ry Cooder, and Joe Satriani. He is also an Official Fractal Artist.

Starting on Wednesday May 25th and every last Wednesday of every month, there will be a residency held down by the 10-19 Band at the Linsmore Tavern! The 10-19 Band is a band featuring some of Toronto's first responders who are some of the real heroes of our city! Sarah Young (Emergency Room Nurse) and Billy Young (Toronto Paramedic) started their music relationship together in the early 2000’s playing acoustic covers at work parties and teaming with co-worker Morgan Jones Phillips (Toronto Paramedic and writer of The Emergency Monologues) performing with an original blues/rock band in the Toronto live music scene. In 2015 they were approached by a booking agent to start a cover band consisting of all front line workers. The three of them invited musician/Medics to form The 10-19 Band that year and headlined the first annual “Artist In The Ambulance” show at 3030 in the Junction. The “Artist In The Ambulance” shows continued up until 2020 and 10-19 also played other shows during their first few years together. Unfortunately and as with many live performers Covid-19 took its toll on the live music scene and also front line workers. The 10-19 Band is excited to announce the next phase in “front line live music”. Thanks to The Linsmore Tavern the current 10-19 line up is a 5 piece band consisting of original members bringing back their unique blend of cover songs old and new. With their powerhouse singers Sarah and Annie Tat (Toronto Paramedic), Billy (guitar) Morgan (bass) and drummer Jesse McArthur (Toronto CBRN Medic) The 10-19 Band is happy to be reunited with their dancing crowds like back in the day!  Starting May 25th and continuing the last Wednesday of every month we will be bringing you covers from modern artist like the Lumineers and Vance Joy to 80’s or 90’s and everything in between.

Covered in Cash will soon embark on a US Tour, so it's great that we are able to get them in before they leave and they will definitely bring THE RING OF FIRE! We had heard so many amazing things about this band and all or their legendary shows at the An Sibin, and man have they delivered with a so many SOLD-OUT shows and memorable evenings over the years at the Linsmore! After seeing them perform at the Linsmore consistently over the last few years, we can confidently say that they are not just any Johnny Cash Tribute Band, they are the Best Johnny Cash Cover Band in Canada! Featuring Rick Aulier as Johnny Cash who happened to own the very popular Irish Bar on Queen Street - An Sibin, where Covered in Cash played many capacity filled and memorable shows over the years at this popular bar! Rick Aulier doesn't try to be an impersonator of Johnny Cash, but if you closed your eyes and started the set by saying, "Hello I'm Johnny Cash", for one fitting moment you would fee you just heard the voice of the man in black. His contagious banter on stage draws you in and every now and then, when it gets more rockabily than country, Rick Aulier tones it down with heartfelt ballads like the swan song of Cash, "Hurt". Guitarist Paul Morgan Husiak has had a solid decades-long career with his own bands, The Paul Morgan Project, WheelHouse, and Southern Sky (southern rock tribute). He has also been a full time member of the Elton Rohn Band, the world's premiere tribute to Elton John. Versatility has always been one Paul's strengths. Drummer Dan Neumann has been hitting the tubs for neigh on 25 years. His main playing experience was in Europe, where he played with Nina Hagen, Dr. & the Medics, Gino Washington, Jamie Cullum among many others. In Toronto, he actively teaches drums at schools and privately. He also plays with known Canadian artists such as Ken Whitely, with whom he recorded an album of children's songs. Howard Rabkin (bass), was born in Montreal and started playing bass at the age of 14. He played with a host of Montreal-based bar and concert bands, sharing stages with Jesse Winchester, George Duke, Billy Cobham, John Scofield. He became a touring musician, travelling throughout Eastern Canada, eventually moving to Toronto in the'80s. An eclectic performer, he has worked as a bassist, pedal steel guitarist and acoustic guitarist with many artists, live and on recordings, and in most genres -- from Rock, Pop, Blues, Folk, Country, Disco ( yes..even that!) playing both original music and covers. Howard was part of the 90’s indie recording band “the deli llamas” with Staggered Crossing’s guitarist Bruce Adamson and since then has been the bass player of choice for many local Toronto artists and bands. Covered in Cash is a great tribute to a great artist! This show is definitely going to be a SELL-OUT, so get your tickets now! Tickets are only $8 in advance, $10 at the door! Thursday June 9th, is going to be a great evening of music with 4 incredible, Toronto based original acts at the Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth Ave)! Presented by Save Toronto Music Venues, which is a great organization who took the initiative to help Toronto Music Venues during the pandemic, this night is going to be a ton of fun! The night features 4 bands including Bad Breed, Left on the Dial, Giant Triangle and Just Jillian! You don't want to miss this evening and these 4 great bands! The show starts at 7:30pm, tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance, here: https://www.savetorontomusicvenues.com/tickets

Bad Breed

Formed in 2019, Toronto-based Bad Breed started out as a hard-edged combination of punk rock and 60s R&B. Now a singular blend of hard-edged funk, soul and rock, Bad Breed are a unique collaboration from diverse musical backgrounds, fronted by vocalist Mike Gribben and Havana-born bassist/vocalist Maylin Ortega.

Left on the Dial

Toronto-based band, Left on the Dial, takes as much influence from the sounds of the north and mid-west of the 80s and 90s as it does from the Deep South and the Blues, Soul and Rock ’n roll music it birthed.

With Jennifer’s subtle and thunderous drums, Joshua’s emotional and cerebral lead guitar, Dave’s always in the pocket bass and Blake’s incredible guitar and incendiary vocals, LOTD weaves bluesy and melodic southern-flavoured songs with tones referencing 60s and 70s Rock ’N roll to 90s fuzzy nastiness and everything in between. Listen and you’ll feel the inspiration of all rock styles, so much so, you’ll never want to move the dial.

Giant Triangle

With Jon on guitar, Hank on bass, Margot on drums, Justin on guitar and keys, and Ellie on the main mic, Giant Triangle proves to be an unstoppable new force in the Toronto area music scene. Each of these individuals has enough musical power to level a small rural Ontario town, but together they form the sonic equivalent of an anime Super Robot. They are the Voltron of Rock, decimating the gigantic rubbery monsters of banal, formulaic music, weekly, in 30 minutes or less (minus commercials).

They have been favorably compared to the Pixies, the B52s and The Thermals, but scratch the surface and look closer you’ll find a veritable melting pot comprised of the last 40 years of popular music. It is music that will strike a subconscious chord in all who hear it. It is music that you will find yourself humming days later wondering where it came from. It is music that you will hear not just with your ears, but with your soul.

Just Jillian

Just Jillian has a long history in the Toronto music scene. She is a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, keyboards, bass and drums. She is the former lead guitar player for ADHD the band, and played keys for Remote Wonder. She has played gigs all over the world up to and including CBGBs in NYC. After traveling the world with a guitar in hand, she is back in her home town promoting the 2019 release of her debut album "What Day Is It" under UK label Blackdown Music.

This is going to be an excellent night of music and a really fun night! The Linsmore Tavern is extremely excited to welcome back for the first time since 2019, The Spiral Theory: Tribute to The Police, U2, and REM - Pioneers of Modern Rock! The Spiral Theory will be performing a two set tribute to these icons who were on top of the world during the 80's, ushering in a new era of guitar-oriented rock with a conscience. The third set for the evening will be covers that are equally energetic and crowd-pleasing from other influential rockers who followed (Foo Fighters, Black Keys, The Strokes. etc.) This fantastic band tore the roof in their previous shows at the Linsmore to capacity crowd,s so we are thrilled to bring them back again in 2022! The show starts at 9:30pm, so don't miss it!
THE PIONEERS OF MODERN ROCK!
In 1983, The Police is selling out stadiums across North America as the world’s most popular rock band. Their opening act, on their first national tour, is barely known R.E.M.. In 1985, U2 plays the Longest Day festival in Milton Keynes, England with R.E.M. on the same bill. Bono later stated meeting Michael Stipe on that day, and their ensuing friendship, was “one of the most important moments of my life.“ On the final show of the 1986 Amnesty National Tour at Giants Stadium in New York, The Police symbolically take their instruments off during “Invisible Sun” and pass them over to U2, who then finish the song before starting their own set. The torch is officially passed. By 1991, with the releases of "Achtung Baby" and "Out of Time", U2 and R.E.M. have become “the most important rock bands of a generation, setting a new standard for how arena rock concerts could feel and how they could communicate" - The Chicago Tribune.
