Maddy Ringo & The Firelight with The Commune Live at the Linsmore Tavern!

The Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth Ave) is really excited to host two incredible original acts for the very first time on Thursday July 13th!  Headlining this evening is one of the most talented singer/songwriter’s and vocalist in Canada, Maddy Ringo who is a classically trained vocalist brought up in the opera world, who is now delivering music with an Americana sound! Also performing on this evening is coming from Hamilton Ontario, The Commune, who has a roots-rock, pop and contemporary folk sound influenced by Townes Van Zandt! The show starts at 7:30pm!

Maddy Ringo is a singer-songwriter from Toronto. Raised in the opera world, she pivoted to folk busking when the pandemic closed the doors on live performance. Now, she is developing a career in folk-Americana music in Ann Arbor while she pursues a degree in classical voice from the University of Michigan. Her songwriting draws inspiration from the Canadian folk music of her childhood, Americana of the 1970s, and elements of folk-punk, with mezzo vocals like K.D. Lang and bluesy edges reminiscent of Joni Mitchell. Maddy’s debut album ‘Wake Up Woman’ can be found on all major streaming platforms.

The Commune is an Irish-Canadian singer-songwriter based out of Hamilton Ont. Often supported by a revolving band of musicians of various backgrounds; aspects of roots-rock, pop and contemporary folk are blended into a brand new sound. This constantly evolving lineup is not only the source of The Commune’s name, but lends a musically uplifting and progressive background to a backbone of melancholic lyricism reminiscent of Townes Van Zandt and Willie P. Bennet. All involved are excited to be supporting Maddy Ringo at the Linsmore on July 13th.

the commune’s debut EP release – Juma is to be expected on the 22nd of july
