Friday January 6th and kicking off all weekend shows in 2023, the Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth Ave) is excited to welcome to our stage for the very first time, Poor Man’s High! We love bringing in new bands and Poor Man’s High in particular is a band we are really excited for and know that our audience will truly love! This 6 piece funk, reggae, rock and soul band will definitely get our audience up and dancing with their fun, upbeat set-list! The show starts at 9:30pm, there will be a $10 cover at the door!
Their 6+ piece Toronto-based outfit draws on a variety of influences from the funk of Sly and the Family Stone to the early ska and roots reggae of Bob Marley and the Wailers to the blues-rock of the Rolling Stones and CCR. Their music is inspired by the funk and soul of greats like James Brown and Gil Scott-Heron, and reverberates with the stylistic coolness and pizazz of Elvis Presley, Miles Davis and The Heavy.
Their high energy performances and eclectic mix of original and cover songs are guaranteed to make you groove. They love all genres from funk n’ reggae to rock n’ soul! Whether you’re rich, poor or somewhere in between, we believe that everyone should have access to, and get naturally high on great music (like theirs)!
