He is considered, the #4 independent blues guitarist in the world (2016 Six String Theory) and was also Semi-Finalists in The Blues Foundation’s 2018 International Blues Challenge, held in Memphis. He  moved to Austin, Texas and has been touring all over melting faces with his tremendous guitar playing! Gary has a very hectic schedule over the summer touring everywhere, so don’t miss out on seeing this talent in Toronto. Gary is only back for a short period of time, so Toronto music fans, we are really in for a big treat with Gary returning to play the Linsmore! Music fans you need to see this band live and at the Linsmore because this opportunity will not be presented very often in the future. The show starts at 9:30pm, tickets are $7 in advance, $10 at the door so do not miss this show!
Gary Cain is Canada’s #1 Independent Blues Artist! Some of the bands that has influenced Gary Cain’s Blues music, include Eric Gales, Philip Sayce, Stevie Ray Vaughan, AC/DC, Danny Gatton, ZZ Top, Chris Duarte, Scott Henderson, Doyle Bramhall II, Greg Koch, Albert King, Albert Collins, and Jimi Hendrix! In 2019 Gary opened a show for George Thorogood and The Destroyers at Massey Hall in front of 3000 people and absolutely stole the show! He is gaining a ton of worldwide recognition and someone you need to see live!
Gary Cain is one of the most exciting guitar-slingers on the blues scene today. As a child he spent entire days in his parents’ basement learning AC/DC songs note-for-note on a cheap classical guitar. “Eventually I think they thought ‘It’s time to get him into lessons.’ I still laugh when I think back to me as a 12-year old kid trying to explain to my Mom the intricacies of Angus Young’s solo on the live version of Whole Lotta Rosie.”
After studying guitar at Humber College’s world-renowned music program, he played in several bands, eventually landing a gig in Dubai in the house band for The Lodge, one of Dubai’s largest nightclubs. The four-sets-a-night, six-nights-a-week pace eventually led to a vocal injury that sidelined him. “I wasn’t sure what to do, no seemed to be able to tell me what the problem was. When I finally got into see a specialist that could tell me, it was a relief to know it was something I could come back from.” Now, back in action with a style he calls Twang-a-Delic Blues-o-Phunk, he’s backed by a rhythm section featuring two incredibly well-rounded, experienced, and talented musicians. “It’s great to be able to play with guys that can draw from so many styles. It gives us a lot of freedom to stretch out of the typical blues box and into a lot of cool different places.”
In 2016 Gary placed 4th in the world in the blues category of Grammy Winner Lee Ritneour’s Six String Theory guitar competition, judged by such greats as Joe Bonamassa, Ry Cooder, and Joe Satriani. He is also an Official Fractal Artist.

June 9, 2022 7:30 pm - 11:59 pm

Thursday June 9th, is going to be a great evening of music with 4 incredible, Toronto based original acts at the Linsmore Tavern (1298 Danforth Ave)! Presented by Save Toronto Music Venues, which is a great organization who took the initiative to help Toronto Music Venues during the pandemic, this night is going to be a ton of fun! The night features 4 bands including Bad Breed, Left on the Dial, Giant Triangle and Just Jillian! You don’t want to miss this evening and these 4 great bands! The show starts at 7:30pm, tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance, here:

Bad Breed

Formed in 2019, Toronto-based Bad Breed started out as a hard-edged combination of punk rock and 60s R&B. Now a singular blend of hard-edged funk, soul and rock, Bad Breed are a unique collaboration from diverse musical backgrounds, fronted by vocalist Mike Gribben and Havana-born bassist/vocalist Maylin Ortega.

Left on the Dial

Toronto-based band, Left on the Dial, takes as much influence from the sounds of the north and mid-west of the 80s and 90s as it does from the Deep South and the Blues, Soul and Rock ’n roll music it birthed.

With Jennifer’s subtle and thunderous drums, Joshua’s emotional and cerebral lead guitar, Dave’s always in the pocket bass and Blake’s incredible guitar and incendiary vocals, LOTD weaves bluesy and melodic southern-flavoured songs with tones referencing 60s and 70s Rock ’N roll to 90s fuzzy nastiness and everything in between. Listen and you’ll feel the inspiration of all rock styles, so much so, you’ll never want to move the dial.

Giant Triangle

With Jon on guitar, Hank on bass, Margot on drums, Justin on guitar and keys, and Ellie on the main mic, Giant Triangle proves to be an unstoppable new force in the Toronto area music scene. Each of these individuals has enough musical power to level a small rural Ontario town, but together they form the sonic equivalent of an anime Super Robot. They are the Voltron of Rock, decimating the gigantic rubbery monsters of banal, formulaic music, weekly, in 30 minutes or less (minus commercials).

They have been favorably compared to the Pixies, the B52s and The Thermals, but scratch the surface and look closer you’ll find a veritable melting pot comprised of the last 40 years of popular music. It is music that will strike a subconscious chord in all who hear it. It is music that you will find yourself humming days later wondering where it came from. It is music that you will hear not just with your ears, but with your soul.

Just Jillian

Just Jillian has a long history in the Toronto music scene. She is a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, keyboards, bass and drums. She is the former lead guitar player for ADHD the band, and played keys for Remote Wonder. She has played gigs all over the world up to and including CBGBs in NYC. After traveling the world with a guitar in hand, she is back in her home town promoting the 2019 release of her debut album “What Day Is It” under UK label Blackdown Music.
